Paper wasps don't bother me - i find I can work very close to them and as long as I don't bump into one, I'm ok. Yellow jackets are a whole nother thing though.
I'm a Woolite girl. To wash hand embroidered items....I recommend hand washing in Woolite using cold water. You can use a tooth brush or small soft brush to clean stains around the embroidered thread. DO NOT use a brush on the embroidered image(s) though! You will ruin the embroidery if you do.
To Dry.....I recommend Air Dry or Line Dry ONLY!
If a hand embroidered item needs to be ironed.....I recommend using a "Pressing Cloth" on the reverse side of the item. Example: If you are ironing a Tote Bag....I recommend using a pressing cloth to iron on the back side of the Tote. Never iron directly on a hand embroidery image! Pressing Cloth's can be purchased at a Fabric Store outlet. Info coutesy of: http://www.amberafternoon.etsy.com/
Here is a quilter's version of the typical kitchen triangle of fridge, stove, sink. For us it's sewing machine, iron, cutting board. This is where you will find a happy quilter.
How do you sell a touch?
When I visit a quilt show, I have to keep my hands behind my back to keep from touching everything I see. There is just something about the feel of a quilt, or any handmade fiber art. It conveys the comfort of marshmallows in hot cocoa after a day of sledding and snow angels. It's like a hot cup of tea with a favorite friend. There is just some intangible quality that an artist infuses into their craft that has to be experienced with all the senses. I thought this was a hindrance to selling and buying things online. I've learned this isn't true. It's like an extra gift in each package I order. Yes, it looks as beautiful as I expected, but oh!, now I get to feel it and turn it around in my hands! I get to discover the details that make it so beautiful. Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way! Mary Ellen at starryhomecrafts

New Poll
We're considering what to do about having many items in a shop versus just a few. For those of us who already have many items, we feel the one item per week can be overwhelming as far as listing fees go. Of course, the more items you have to pick from, the better the treasuries can be! And the more variety for customers. Let us know what you think.
How many items should a seller have in their shop before joning the team.
How many items should a member have in their shop before they can stop having to list new items.
Which chairty do you prefer to donate the round robin project to??
Wkly & Mthly announcements
Feb. 2, 2009 The Quilts and Heirlooms team had their FINAL meeting tonight as a structured team. We will no longer function with treasury, promoting, and new weekly listings obligations. Team President and Founder, Edna/QuiltSalad, and VP, StarryHomeCrafts/Mary have decided to forgo those chores, and to operate simply as a social group. Everyone can feel free to post links to their upcoming and completed projects, and comment on the team's thread as they see fit. We hope to continue to inspire each other, but not in a structured manner anymore. Thanks to those faithful members who have stuck with us and done their donest. Good luck to everyone. We hope to see some awesome quilted, crocheted, embroidered, painted and knitted projects coming from you all in the upcoming years. Go where you wanna go. Do what you wanna do. LOL
Many thanks. ++++++++++++++ Jan. 5, 2009 The meeting tonight was warm and very informative. This was our first meeting of the new year.
We discussed getting back to our promoting on Entrecard, 1000- markets, the next themes, and upcoming projects. Jan. 2009 theme: Valentine Feb. 2009 theme: Spring ++++++++++++++++++++++++ Mon. Dec. 1, 2008 This was our last meeting for this year. We had a much longer than usual meeting today. The attending members shared ideas for enhancing our businesses, the holiday eats, and the sour side of the economy.
We are hoping to establish a better team coordinated effort to promote our talents. A team website is, hopefully, in the making for all who would love to participate. We have found a low yearly rate, divided by the members should just work out fine.
Full or better team participation on Entrecard would be greatly appreciated.
Mon Nov. 3, 2008 Unfortunately, this meeting didn't go as was planned; some members forgot to attend, and others were pre-occupied. We discussed themes for November and December, and Entrecard briefly, and the proper and improper items to place on our team blog. Novembers' theme:Turkey. We discussed appliqueing colorful tail feathers for a really cute look.
Decembers' theme: Snow
++++++++ Mon. Oct. 6, 2008 We had a great and warm meeting tonight. Starry/Mary, our teams' VP, was able to attend despite her current family situation. We were so glad to have her present with us. 1. We discussed posting more regularly on our blog. Members are invited so send interesting photos of their everyday life events, that will be posted on our blog. Please send your "HOT TOPIC" photos to me, Quiltsalad if you would like to have them posted on our teams' blog. 2. Our October theme will be a Sudoko fiber item.
3. A new section will be added to the blog for our new weekly listed items. 4. We discussed adding Entrecard to our promotional probabilities. Rose created the cutest avatars for our team members. 5. Many of the members would like to become involved in a round robin project. This is not mandatory, but should be an interesting and fun project for those wishing to become involved. 6. The team came up with several charities of which to donate a quilt or fiber project. A vote will be taken. You may place your vote here on our blog. 7. Seems like most members agreed that a house theme would be great for the charity project. ++++++++++++++++++ Mon. Sept. 8, 2008
1. The team members who attended the meeting have agreed that we will do just one theme item per month, but will have an option of two choices. Members will decide on the theme, and I, Edna will create samples in EQ to present to the team. 2. The word "Sudoko" was introduced as a method of doing a future project. This curator had never heard of the word before. I really learned something new.
Mon. Aug. 25, 2008 1. The team members who attended the meeting have agreed that when any team member misses our one weekly treasury, that member will not be placed in any member treasuries the following week(s). We will vote in the next meeting, if not before, on how many times a member can miss getting a treasury before their team membership will be forfeited.
2. Pamelaquilts resigned from our team as of Aug. 24, 2008, due to an overload of commitments.
Mon Aug 18, 2008 Meeting. 1. We again confirmed that a team treasury includes only team members, if there are empty slots, other crafters may be used to fill in the slots. 2. We are changing our team meeting to only once per month. The first Monday of the month. Members may get together and have informal chats on the chat board as often as they wish. ++++++++++++++++ Mon August 11, 2008 1. The team confirmed just one treasury and one item per week per member. This requirement is extremely easy for everyone, therefore, we expect all members to post their weekly treasury on the teams' thread.
2. We are planning to begin the fan quilt project Sept 1, and have it completed and listed no later than Sept. 30. This is not a mandatory project. Those who have the time and enthusiasm, please do participate. _______________ Wednesday Aug 6, 2008
Effective Aug. 15th 2008, we are considering changing the team requirments to one treasury per week, and one new item per week. This gives us the time to finish at least one large project per month. (keep in mind that you can still do as many items and team treasuries as you would like to each week)
Thanks to all of you who stuck with Quilts and Heirlooms through our trial period.
We plan to continue our dedication and motivation to our agenda. We are working on other goals for the team. --------------------------------

Yeah, those yellow jackets are serious. I hope that we got rid of them for good.
